Charles Sullivan elected President of the Mississippi Historical Society

Charles L. Sullivan, Secretary of the Combined Boards of Beauvoir, professor emeritus and archivist at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, has been elected president of the Mississippi Historical Society. He was named vice president in 2012 and elevated to the presidency during the annual meeting on March 2, 2013, in Vicksburg. He will serve as president for one year.

Jefferson Davis Presidential Library and Museum Update

The Jefferson Davis Presidential Library and Museum dedication was held over a 3-day weekend from June 1-3, 2013. Events included a gala black tie event, a Davis Family reunion and picnic, and ended with a large dedication ceremony on June 3,the 205th Birthday of Confederate President Jefferson Davis.

2013 Sons of Confederate Veterans National Heritage Rally at Beauvoir

The 2013 SCV National Heritage Rally was held at Beauvoir on March 16th, 2013. This event featured a march down US 90, for the first time since 1931.

The 2013 Mississippi Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans Confederate Memorial Day Celebration was held April 26, 2013 at Beauvoir.

Beauvoir hosts historic live oak preservation workshop

On Wednesday, May 22, 2013, Beauvoir hosted a day-long seminar/workshop presented by the MS State Extension Service and the MS Urban Forest Council. On-site demonstrations were presented by Arborist Tony Miller, of Cambium Tree Service and Restoration.
