The Mellon Foundation/Winterthur conservator, Catherine Williams, continues to make great strides in sorting and restoring furniture, ceramics, china, and many other types of artifacts stored in Jackson.  Specialists have been brought in to assist with certain items such as firearms and manuscripts.  Ms. Williams is a true credit to her profession.  NOTE: Please consult your local newspaper for information on upcoming Winterthur workshops!

Text Box:  The past few months have been hectic here at Beauvoir.  The first few weeks of 2006 were spent supervising the removal of the last remaining sections of the debris field.  Since then volunteers from Tourism Cares, Hands on USA, church groups, and college students have assisted us with projects ranging from miscellaneous debris removal to  archaeology digs around the slab of the Confederate Museum.  We could not have made tremendous progress visible on the grounds without their assistance.  Pictures of these volunteers can be 
Text Box: continues to make immense progress in processing the surviving artifacts stored on site.  Using our artifact database they are slowly but resolutely comparing the old artifact list with a post-storm list for discrepancies and destroyed items.  So far the staff is very pleased with the survival 
rate of our period weaponry.

corporation. It invalidated the attempt by a majority of the  corporate directors to sever the relationship between the Division and corporation and affirmed the position taken by Commander Funchess.  Thus, in the future, the management of Beauvoir will be under the overall guidance of its directors.  These directors are elected by and are accountable to the Division membership and each member in good standing of the Division will continue to be a part of Beauvoir.
