Beauvoir House Restoration

Greetings from Beauvoir!

Great news from the restoration! 98% of the restoration is completed.

100% of the porches are complete.

Repair of the roof is complete and the slate roof is completed. Over 7000 pieces of slate have been installed.

All window units have been installed. Also, all of the glass panes have been installed, inlcuding the front and back doors.

The plaster on the front porch is 100% completed.

Painting of the outside of the house is finished.

The remaining original porch handrails are installed and new replacement handrails are installed.

The front and back steps have been rebuilt and installed.

All of the original lattice work was destroyed by the storm, new lattice work is 100% completed.

The metal fence on the west side of the cemetary is complete. 80% percent of the pickets are installed in front of Beauvoir and on the west side. Painting of the fence will done by the 25th of April.

Bids have been accepted on the Hayes Cottage, Library Cottage, and the Cistern. Work will begin by the 29th of April.

Demolititon of the old Presidential Library and Museum and the slab of the old Hospital building will begin by the 25th of April.

We are waiting on MEMA and FEMA to approve the the new Jefferson Davis Presidential Library and Museum.
